The Bahamas are a group of islands. Lying just off the east coast of the United States, they’ve long been a much-treasured travel destination. If you are making vacation plans for the summer, here are seven reasons this part of the globe should be at the top of your list.

Amazing Cuisine

The Bahamas are home to some of the most delightful food you’ll find anywhere in the world. Fresh seafood is the order of the day here. That means a chance to enjoy the catch the day. It’s also a chance to eat tropical fruit in their native habitat. British, Spanish and Caribbean trends combine to create impressive results.

Crystal Clear Waters

One of the best things about visiting The Bahamas is the island’s many beaches. Hit Gold Rock Beach, Grand Bahama for luscious sands. If you want the classic pink sand experience on the islands, head for Pink Sand Beach, Harbour Island. It’s all about having the chance to connect with the world around you in a relaxed place.

Ease of Access

Unlike some other destinations, The Bahamas are a short distance away from many places. If you live in the United States, you’ll find lots of flights from many major cities. Bring the kids on summer vacation. A short flight into a hub like Miami is easy. Then you’re off to the islands directly. Once there, you can always take a tour of other islands via one of many private boats and ferries during the high season.

Go Diving

Diving is one of those activities you just have to do in The Bahamas. This is a fabulous place to get to know what the world looks like from underwater. Go on your own or hire a tour guide. They’ll bring you to a secluded spot. From there, you can have a look at the watery creatures that come up next to you. This is the place to be if you’re into some of the best diving in North America. Go for Dean’s Blue Hole.

Swimming Pigs

Pigs are the star of the show at Exuma. No one is really sure how they got there but they’re here right now. They’re cute and friendly. You can watch them swim or go swimming with them. They’re cuddly and fun. You can also swim with other creatures here including nurse sharks and rays.

Quaint Nassau

Nassau is the capital of The Bahamas. It’s a charming town that invites lots of easy strolling. Head for the harbor area to see the tall ships in person. You’ll find lots of colorful buildings and plenty of stores happy to let you have a look. This is where many cruise ships stop. That gives it a certain cosmopolitan feel. Guests from all over the world are welcome here each week.

World Class Resorts

If you want to enjoy an upscale experience this is definitely the place to head on vacation this summer. The Bahamas have many luxurious places to stay. You’ll find private islands where you can get away from it. There’s also all inclusive resorts with lots of ways to stretch out and relax. This is one place that has a wide range of options for every traveler.
